I quote a little-known film: The Great Waldo Pepper ( 1975) by George Roy Hill with Robert Redford. A story of pilots from the First World War who become stuntmen at air shows.
In the middle of the film, a character disappears in a completely unpredictable and yet completely credible way. It’s extremely well done and completely destabilizing!
I remember literally standing there staring at the screen with my mouth open, not understanding what had just happened.
I also can’t resist the pleasure of mentioning LOST and its extraordinary twist in the last episode of season 3, where we realize that the flashbacks of the episode are, in reality, flashforwards…
What movie scene left you speechless because there was no way the movie would go that way?
